Michael Kaufman
Michael Kaufman is a Harvard MBA, University of Chicago Psychology PhD, pioneer of category-defining research in human development on success and happiness, thought leader in psychology, clinician, educator at elite institutions, and insider with first-hand leadership experience in marketing, operations and finance.
Kaufman helps leaders navigate the complex issues that drive organizations and individuals to succeed or fail. He uses proprietary scientifically-based organizational, career and personal change strategies that improve performance and fulfillment.
At the University of Chicago Kaufman directed one of the most extensive studies ever undertaken on the psychological development of leaders and high-achieving professionals entitled the Harvard Student Study of Adult Development. Findings are chronicled in his book, Redefining Success in America, published by a leading academic publisher.
Kaufman’s work has crossed continents. His teaching and research were recognized in 2017 and 2018 by US Department of State Fulbright Scholar Awards.
Kaufman has taught clinical psychology at Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine and at Tumaini University in Tanzania, and leadership in the global executive education program of the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business.
Kaufman has held roles in pioneering companies, including US Robotics, CCC Information Services and First Boston.
Kaufman resides in Chicago with his wife and son and enjoys backcountry hiking and river trips, creative writing, a wide range of movies and discovering other cultures through immersive travel.
